What about privacy and GDPR?

Data protection is very important on a school application like EdTools. We take it very seriously and comply with the GDPR. See for yourself:

Use by parents and students

Our webapp realizes three levels of privacy. Parents and students are on their dashboard in a complete private area.

  • GDPR compliant
  • All data is stored on secure servers in Germany, EU.
  • There are data processing contracts with the server operators according to DSGVO. No other third party companies are involved.
  • No data is read or analyzed, neither by us nor by third parties.
  • No data will be shared or used.
  • Nobody tracks the usage behavior of parents or students. No one can see if or when or how often you have logged in.
  • We always collect as little data as possible.
  • We do not collect data that can identify a student. For example, the teacher should only collect the first name. We do not ask for address, school location or school building.
  • We delete unused data automatically and daily. For example, unused accounts are removed, old chat messages are deleted after 6 months, or letters to the whole class are removed after a certain period of time.
  • Parent email addresses may be collected by the teacher for security reasons. This is to prevent students from abusing the parent account. The teacher can change or delete the email address at any time.
  • All students and parents only see data that directly affects them. Communication with the teacher is always private.

Right to view your own data

There is no secret. Everything the teacher saves about your child and you as a parent is also visible in the student dashboard and parent dashboard. These data are mainly used for communication, information and overview.

Right to delete own data

Please contact your teacher directly to delete your account. He or she can remove students with one click and thus delete all related data. However, please discuss with your teacher alternative ways to receive information and communicate in the future. EdTools is built to simplify communication between students, parents and teachers and make the classroom more productive.

If your teacher rejects to delete the account, please contact us directly with the following information via contact form: email address of the parents and teacher as well as the login data for the student account. We will contact the teacher and delete the account.

Once a class is deleted by the teacher, all student data is also irrevocably deleted.

Users of the public page and teachers

Teachers and visitors to the public site face some other third-party providers that improve the user experience. Of course, all within the context of the GDPR. Read the following sections for this:
